BMW R Nine T Cafe Racer Motorcycle

BMW Motorrad has launched the R nine T motorcycle in India. The bike is one of the cooler looking BMW motorcycles since it is based on a cafe racer theme. The BMW R nine T is priced at Rs. 23.5 lakhs ex-showroom Mumbai and is a straight CBU import from Germany. This bike is called the R nine T as it celebrates BMW Motorrad’s 90 years of existence in the motorcycle business. The R nine T comes with a detachable pillion seat that can be replaced by a racing cowl to give it a more sporty look.
Coming to the technology on the bike, the R nine T is powered by a 1170cc boxer four stroke engine. The twin cylinder engine comes with a rated peak power output of 112 PS and a rated torque output of 119 NM. A six speed gearbox powers the rear wheels through a shaft drive. Since the torque output is very strong, expect the bike to accelerate very quickly despite its 222 kg girth. The claimed top speed of the R nine T is 220 kph and this shows that the bike isn’t geared to just go fast.

BMW has rather given it low and mid range power for more fun in the corners and for some really quick getaways from rest. 0-100 kph is rated at 3.6 seconds. Claimed fuel efficiency is very decent at 22.22 kmpl. An 18 liter tank will give the bike a decent range of over 400 kms, which is rare in today’s sportsbike world. The bike sits on a tubular frame chassis. Braking up front is by twin disc brakes and the rear is taken care of by a single disc brake. ABS comes standard on this bike. BMW Motorrad designed the R nine T as a simple bike for easy going riders and it really shows in the design.
