The country’s largest two wheeler maker
and the world’s largest two wheeler maker by volume, Hero MotoCorp, has
just launched their second product for this year, the 2012 Hero Ignitor
motorcycle. This motorcycle, which was first showcased at the 2012
Indian Auto Expo is essentially a rebadged and restyled Honda CB
Stunner. The Hero Ignitor 125, however will get only the carburetted
version instead of the fuel injection that is available on the top end
variant of the CB Stunner. The rest of the specifications of the Ignitor
125 are bog similar to that of the Stunner.
The Ignitor 125 joins the increasing crop
of 125cc motorcycles that now are vying for the motorcycle buyers
attention, who plan to upgrade from the 100-110cc motorcycle. The
Ignitor, which is quite stylish is expected to be preferred by younger
buyers, looking for a dollop of style to go with good fuel economy and
reliability. Hero MotoCorp will be hoping that the Ignitor will become a
big seller, unlike the CB Stunner, which has enjoyed limited success at
the hustings. Hero too, hasn’t been very strong in the 125cc segment
despite having the Super Splendor 125 and the Glamour 125, both tepid
sellers. So, the brand will hope that the Ignitor changes a thing or two
for it.
The 2012 Hero Ignitor 125 is the first of
the two badge engineered products that Hero MotoCorp will launch in
2012. The second product, which will be launched later this year is the
Passion XPro 110, which is a motorcycle that comes with the styling and
body kit of the Passion Pro while featuring the engine of the Honda CB
Twister. The 110cc four stroke engined motorcycle will be positioned
squarely in the commuter motorcycle segment, and will take on the likes
of the Honda Dream Yuga 110 and the TVS Star City 110.
