Mercedes Benz, a world leader in branded Luxury car segment, with the German luxury and sports car
makers’ AMG performance division outselling both BMW and Audi’s high
performance division. The key to Mercedes Benz’s success has been the
sheer number of models it has in its line up, what with the brand having
an AMG massaged variant of almost every high volume car, and this
includes SUVs too. Now, Mercedes Benz has released images and the first
details of the 2013 Mercedes Benz A45 AMG high performance sports
hatchback.
Notably, the AMG massaged A45 sports
hatchback could be the least priced high performance variant in Mercedes
Benz’s line up, befitting its stature as the brand’s entry level
offering aimed at attracting younger buyers to the three pointed star’s
fold. The heart of the matter in the A45 AMG will be the four cylinder
turbo petrol engine displacing 2 liters. This engine is speculated to
deliver a peak power of 330 Bhp of peak power and a peak torque of 400
Nm, to make for a very quick hatchback. Expect a top speed of 250 Kph
with the nought to hundred sprint in about 5 seconds, propelling the A45
AMG straight into sportscar territory.
The power will be transmitted through a 7
speed dual clutch automatic gearbox with a manual mode when you’re in
the mood for stick shifting. However, paddle shifts will be how the
manual shifting is expected to happen. Like all AMG massaged Mercedes
Benz cars, expect the A45 AMG to come with a comprehensive body kit with
plenty of sporty bits. On the inside too, the 2013 A45 AMG will come
with sporty elements ranging from different materials used to drilled
aluminum pedals and the works. The 2013 A-Class AMG model is expected to
make the first splash at the 2013 Geneva Motor Show.
Going forward, Mercedes Benz has also
hinted that many of its entry level models based on the MFA
architecture, which incidentally also underpins the A-Class hatchback,
will get the AMG treatment to be positioned as high performance models.
thereby greatly expanding the AMG range and making this hallowed
performance brand much more affordable than ever before. In India,
Mercedes Benz will launch the A-Class hatchback in 2013. Considering
that the brand has launched a range of AMG powered cars in the country,
someday, the A45 AMG could become a launch reality in India too.
