The Renault Fluence sedan is all set t
get a mid career cosmetic facelift come 2013, and the facelifted model
has already begun doing in what seems like the testing rounds. The good
folks over at CarScoop have managed to snag a few images of the on-test
camouflaged Fluence. Minimal camouflage on the test car’s front and rear
indicates that the facelift will most likely be a minor one. The front
end is expected to get a revamp with revised styling. Expect new
headlamps, a different grille and front bumper up front. The rear is
expected to see revised tail lamps and a new bumper.
Other
changes, if any remain unknown at the moment. Expect the facelifted 2013
Renault Fluence sedan to debut sometime later this year. In India,
Renault launched the Fluence sedan in 2011, and the car is sold with two
engine variants, a 2 Liter petrol engine a 1.5 Liter K9K turbo diesel
engine. The car has been a slow mover in India given the steep pricing
and the limited number of features on the diesel variants. The French
automaker is also saddled with a small dealer and after sales footprint
in India, another contributor to the slow sales of its products.
While Renault does plant to aggressively
expand its dealer numbers in the coming months, what with the impending
launch of the hotly anticipated Duster SUV, the Fluence needs much more
than that. A better pricing strategy is what all of Renault’s existing
products in India could do very well with although it seems that the
French brand is leaning more on the Duster to bring it the elusive hit
in terms of numbers. The rest of the products in the brand’s portfolio,
like the Fluence, Pulse and the Koleos, seem more like presence markers
and brand builders.
That said, expect the Indian Fluence to
also get the facelift following the global launch of the facelifted car.
Going into the future, Renault India will launch another brand
engineered product in the form of the rebadged and restyled C-segment
sedan called the Scala, based on the Nissan Sunny. This car is expected
to be launched by the end of this year, rounding off Renault 3 car
launches for the year in India, beginning with the Pulse hatchback,
followed by the Duster SUV, culminating in the Scala sedan.
